The 12-day expedition gives you access to intense and indelible wildlife, birding and cultural experience. Also included are; accommodation, meals and game drives.

NB: A visit to Nairobi amusement parks are optional and subject to your arrival time (David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage & Giraffe Centre are included in this package)

Day 1
Nairobi (Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Centre) – (Intercontinental hotel)

Pick up from your hotel at 10:00am and proceed to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to meet the baby elephants that most have lost their mothers to poaching, death or other tragedies. Take a walk through the nursery and discover more about the infants.

At 12:00 pm, leave the orphanage for the Giraffe Centre the home of the Rothschild giraffes. Get to interact more closely with the endangered animals and learn about conservation works that are taking place.

Day 2
Maji Moto Maasai Cultural Camp

Pick up from your hotel at 8:00 am and depart for Maji Moto Maasai Cultural camp (3hrs drive), nestled at the northern foot of the Loita hills. The first stop is at the view point for a view of the escarpment wall. Later descend the escarpment for Narok town where you’ll stop for a health break or shop for snacks/drinks.

Arrive at the camp in time for lunch.

At 4:00pm, walk with the Maasai warriors for a hike at the hills, have sundowner drinks at the hillside view-point gazing west over the savannah towards the Maasai Mara. Later, descend to go have a shower in the natural hot water springs (optional). After dinner sit by the bonfire and listen to the amazing songs and stories by the Maasai warriors.

Day 3
Maji Moto Maasai Cultural Camp

Arise and have breakfast by 8:00am ready for the day’s activities. Visit a local school and spend a few with the children before heading for wildlife tracking activity in the Loita plains as you observe the plants and animals through Maasai eyes. Loita plains host wildlife like the giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, eland as well as many bird species. You will also get the knowledge of the Maasai culture, natural world, its plants animals and their uses.

Return to the camp for lunch. Have a rest. Then pack a few essential for an overnight traditional camping “Orpul” where only the morans slaughter a goat and spend the night in the bush.

Day 4
Maasai Mara and the Greater Mara River – Oldarpoi Mara Camp

Wake up by 7 and depart “Orpul” for the camp (1 1/2hrs drive), have breakfast and prepare to depart for Maasai Mara. Arrive in time for lunch. Have a rest before an evening game drive at the Maasai Mara. The tree studded grassland and rolling hills are well renowned for its great herds of plain games which include the black-manned lions, leopard, cheetah and numerous elephants among others.

Day 5
Maasai Mara and the Greater Mara River – Oldarpoi Mara Camp

You will have Full Day Game Drives to the Mara equipped with packed lunch. Spend a full day tracking the big five and game viewing with a visit to the Mara River. The river has great concentration of animals and birds throughout the year. During this period you will be lucky to observe the Great Wildebeest Migration, where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during the annual migrations. You also have a chance to see other plain game like the Topi, hartebeest, Eland.

Enjoy your picnic lunch as you observe the Migration, crocodiles, hippos and other animals living in water.

Day 6
Maasai Mara and the Greater Mara River – Oldarpoi Mara Camp

You will have Full Day Game Drives to the Mara equipped with packed lunch. Spend a full day tracking the big five and game viewing with a visit to the Mara River. The river has great concentration of animals and birds throughout the year. During this period you will be lucky to observe the Great Wildebeest Migration, where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during the annual migrations. You also have a chance to see other plain game like the Topi, hartebeest, Eland.

Enjoy your picnic lunch as you observe the Migration, crocodiles, hippos and other animals living in water.

Day 7
Lake Naivasha (Crescent Island Game Sanctuary) – Crater Lake Tented Camp

After breakfast at 8:00am, depart for Naivasha (3Hrs drive). Head out for the crescent Island on a short boat trip around the island as you bird watch and learn about the island and the different bird species hosted by the lake. On arrival at the island, have picnic lunch as you enjoy the scenery.

Later go on a guided walking safari on Cresent Island and get close to the wild animals and birds. Crescent Island is favorable for wildlife photography. Later, enjoy an evening game drive at Lake Naivasha National park as you return to the camp for dinner and overnight. The lake is about 13km across and draws a great number of game, from giraffes, buffalos, hippopotami, and bird species.

Day 8
Lake Nakuru National Park & Ol pejeta Conservancy – Ol Pejeta Bush Camps

Have early breakfast at 7:00 am and depart for a morning game drive at the Lake Nakuru NP, which is famous for the endangered species; white and black Rhinos and the flamingos (which are very few) but you are guaranteed of seeing the Rhinos among other Big Five. Lake Nakuru not a big park and within 3 hours you will have seen enough.

At noon, depart for Nanyuki (3hrs drive) with packed lunched en-route. Arrive at the Ol pejeta conservancy late afternoon and head out for an evening game drive around the conservancy. This is a 283 ha drive-through enclosure home to endangered species such as the last three remaining northern white rhinos (one male and two females), the endangered Grevy's zebra and Jackson's hartebeest.

OPTIONAL: You can visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary the next day before leaving. The sanctuary is home to 39 profoundly damaged chimpanzees rescued from captivity across Africa. Get to learn about each of their stories.

Day 9
Ngare Ndare - Sabache Tented camp

After breakfast, leave Ol Pejeta for Ngare Ndare (1Hr drive). Ngare Ndare forest is a vital corridor that links the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to Mt. Kenya especially for elephants. It is also the only indigenous forest in Kenya with an expanding canopy cover and hosts some ancient African Olive and Red cedar trees thought to be around 200 years old.

At 10:00 am, go on a 7km hike (2-3hrs) that leads to the water falls accompanied by a guide. On this hike you’ll enjoy a sky canopy walk through the forest. The canopy walk is a 40 ft. high aerial bridge made of wire mesh and cables meandering through the tree canopy and extends 450 m long. It ends at a wooden platform 30 ft. high where you’ll relax and enjoy views of the river from the elevated vantage point as you have picnic lunch. From this view, you may spot black rhinos, wild dogs, elephants and buffaloes.

Later in the afternoon (2:30 pm), we hike to the water falls, about 3.5kms from the canopy walk. Ngare Ndare is home to 7 great waterfalls. Swimmers and divers are allowed to enjoy the chilly waters. Also, canyoning is also offered at the waterfalls. Have photo sessions at the waterfalls to carry home some memories.

At 4:00 pm leave the forest for check in at the Camp. Dinner and overnight at Sabache Tented Camp

Day 10
Samburu National Reserve - Sabache Eco Camp

You will have an early morning. After having tea/coffee and a light snack at around 6:00 am, depart for Samburu National Reserve for a morning game drive in pursuit for the big five among other game animals.

At 9:00 am, return for breakfast at the Camp. Relax as you await the day’s activities some of the activities one can chose from include:

• Camel safari guided by a tour guide

• Cultural visit to the local villages, collect souvenirs and spend time with the Samburu women in their manyattas.

• A hike at the spectacular Mt. Sabache with the Samburu warriors

Later go on an evening game drive. Return for dinner as you enjoy traditional music and dance around a campfire.

Day 11
Samburu National Reserve - Sabache Eco Camp

You will have an early morning. After having tea/coffee and a light snack at around 6:00 am, depart for Samburu National Reserve for a morning game drive in pursuit for the big five among other game animals.

At 9:00 am, return for breakfast at the Camp. Relax as you await the day’s activities some of the activities one can chose from include:

• Camel safari guided by a tour guide

• Cultural visit to the local villages, collect souvenirs and spend time with the Samburu women in their manyattas.

• A hike at the spectacular Mt. Sabache with the Samburu warriors

Day 12
Samburu - Nairobi

After breakfast, check out and depart for Nairobi (about 5hrs drive) with health/snack stops. You’ll have your lunch along the way. Drop off at the airport or the hotel (Intercontinental hotel) depending on your flight schedule.

PAYMENT

We require a completed booking form and a deposit of approximately 30% of the total trip cost, depending on the trip. The person signing the booking form does soon behalf of all other persons mentioned on the form. A contract exists when we issue written confirmation of your booking. We reserve the right to refuse any booking at our discretion.

CANCELLATION

If you cancel your trip: Cancellation of your trip must be made in writing to us and be signed by the person whose name and signature appears on the booking form. As we may incur considerable costs if you cancel, we will retain your deposit and may impose the following cancellation charges: 31 -15 days before departure – 80%, 14 days or less before departure – 100%. We strongly advise you to take out suitable insurance to cover such potential losses. If we cancel your trip: If we are forced to cancel your trip for reasons beyond our reasonable control (“force majeure”) we will offer you the choice of a full refund of any monies paid or an alternative trip. The Company will accept no liability for any costs incurred by you for anything other than the monies paid to us for the trip.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

You must be adequately insured for any trip as a condition of booking. This should include cover for personal accident and medical expenses, including repatriation, and you are strongly advised to include cover for cancellation, curtailment and loss of property.
