Maasai Mara Wildebeest Luxury Safari - 3 Days

  • The Great Wildebeest Migration, where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during the annual migrations.
  • Almost guaranteed sightings of the Big 5 at any time of the year
  • Stay at Maasai Mara Sopa Lodge, located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills (OR SIMILAR)
  • Have a relaxing luxury stay and wildlife game-viewing

Maasai Mara is known for its Great Wildebeest Migration, where over two million animals migrate from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the greener pastures of Maasai Mara, Kenya from July to October.

This is a luxury safari, which means that you will stay at Masa Mara Sopa Lodge, located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills. This place was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their centre.

This safari makes a good choice for those wanting to have a glimpse of wildlife game-viewing combined with a pamper-filled vacation!

Day 1

Early in the morning, you will be picked up in Nairobi by the driver/guide and provide a briefing on your safari before we depart for Maasai Mara (Approx 5-6 hrs).

Along the way, there will be a stop over at the Great Rift Valley where you can take photos of the sheer drop of the Rift Valley, as well as the nearby Suswa Ranges and Mount Longonot.

Upon arrival at the Mara, you can settle in and have your lunch.

Rest before proceeding to an afternoon game drive at Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

Tip: The Maasai people will sell you souvenirs at the entrance. It is often cheaper to buy from them plus you also get to sustain their livelihood by supporting their arts and crafts.

Day 2
Maasai Mara Game Reserve

You will have a Full Day Game Drive to the Mara equipped with packed lunch. Spend a full day tracking the big five and game viewing with a visit to the Mara River. The river has great concentration of animals and birds throughout the year. During this period you will be lucky to observe the Great Wildebeest Migration, where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during the annual migrations. You also have a chance to see other plain game like the Topi, hartebeest, Eland.

Enjoy your picnic lunch as you observe the Migration, crocodiles, hippos and other animals living in water.

*Visit to a Maasai Village*

An optional visit to a Maasai village can be arranged after the game drive. Maasai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. This visit gives a good tour of Maasai culture and you will be welcomed with a sing and dance presentation, which forms part of their daily lives and sacred rituals.

*Entrance fee of 15 USD is not included in the package.
